I am beside myself with excitement, with a baby on the way I am moving from a poky one bedroom flat into a three bedroom farmhouse at the end of the month. Now, this while means a new addition to our family, more space and a garden, I admit one of the things I am most looking forward to is decking out the place with new furniture. Creating rooms with a ‘look’, not just crammed in possessions. And as a long time lover of the late 1950s, early 60s, with a more recently converted husband with a penchant for Don Draper’s styling and office decor (thank you Mad Men!), in our case we might be going for old furniture, not new. Where better than to start looking, this weekend, than the Midcentury.Modern show at Dulwich College?

Set in the light and bright 60′s concrete and glass Christison-designed refectory and the North and South Cloisters at Dulwich College, the show has established itself as one of the very best in the country for sourcing design collectables from the last century.

It will be great to walk around Christison Hall amongst Scandinavian, European and American mid-century furniture and decorative arts, by designers such as Charles Eames, Hans Wegner and Arne Jacobsen, from 28 of Britain’s top dealers.

I might not be able to resist taking a walk to the South Cloisters where there are 20 dealers, specialising in ceramics, fabrics, art and glass.

The newly expanded show, now features the cream of today’s British designer’s who are creating vintage-esque pieces or items that reference the mid-century, including Assembly Room .

All update you next week with my finds for the new pad.
