Granite counter tops are often times the most expensive item in a kitchen or bathroom and that is not always the way it should be. What most people don’t understand about granite counter tops is they don’t have to be expensive, you could easily save money on them if you just know where to find them and how to get a better deal. The nice part about getting cheap granite counter tops is you will have more money to spend on something else in your home and you might be able to save enough that you could buy yourself something nice.
The first place I would suggest going to in order see if they have granite is a stone yard. The reason why I suggest going to a stone yard first isn’t because they have a bunch of different kinds of granite but because they will have remnant pieces. The nice thing about remnant piece is they are very cheap simply because the stone yard cannot use them for large slabs anymore. What most people don’t get is that remnant is not a knock off and it isn’t returned granite, it is simply unused granite that was cut off of another smaller piece in order to make the size for another counter top.
The next place I would look for cheap granite counter tops is at a local hardware store. The reason why I would look at a hardware store is because often times they have piece that get ordered and the customer never comes and picks them up. When this happens it is very hard to sell because the counter top has been created for a certain size and design and if you don’t care what the design or size is then you can get it for a great price.
The last place I would suggest looking for cheap granite counter tops is at a construction site. The only construction sites that you will want to go to are ones that are dealing with residential property and the reason for this is because commercial buildings normally don’t put in or take out granite. The reason why you want to look here is because when a contractor takes out the granite they will most likely just have it broken down and thrown away so you might even be able to get your granite counter tops for free.
